SC chain hoist – your faithful companion in tough workaday life

In the SC we have systematically advanced the world’s largest chain hoist programme. The SC chain hoist supplements the field-proven ST programme in the standard range and convinces with its intelligent design and equipment.

The SC chain hoist is a modular design and ready for using fast thanks to its plug-in components. The series starts off with the three frame sizes SC 02, SC 05 and SC 10. Thus it initially covers the S.W.L. range from 63 kg to 2,500 kg. The chain hoists can be used as stationary models with suspension hook, eye or rigid suspension. In the case of mobile chain hoists, field-proven push and electric trolleys in various forms are used.

One of the technical features distinguishing the SC chain hoist is the patented 5-pocket chain sprocket. An extra cog supports the vertical chain link and provides additional positive locking between chain and chain sprocket. This reduces wear and permits higher loads on the chain while maintaining a high level of safety.

Also new on the SC chain hoist is the arrangement of brake, slipping clutch and motor in one axis. The slipping clutch is not in the power flux during braking and thus has no impact when the system has come to a standstill. In addition to this, the SC offers a greater variety of hoisting speeds with a 25 % higher safe working load.

The straight lines of the SC chain hoist’s design and its modular construction form the basis for individual off-standard and engineering solutions and make access for maintenance and modernization easier.

We use high-tensile powder-coated aluminium for the high-quality robust case. The standard equipment also includes the hoist limit switch for top and bottom hook position. The electric trolley is equipped with frequency control.

It is also available with frequency inverter as the SCF chain hoist.

SCF chain hoist – precision and quality as standard

The SCF chain hoist will convince you by its precise motion control and stepless hoisting speed. Thanks to the “Extended Speed Range” work with the SCF is even faster and more cost-effective: higher speeds – up to double the standard speed – are possible with partial load. The low wear and smooth running make the hoist a typical STAHL CraneSystems product and an authentic premium chain hoist. Chain hoists of the SCF series will initially be available for maximum working loads from 125 kg to 2,500 kg. Other maximum working loads from 3,200 kg and up to 5,000 kg are planned for the future.

Higher productivity thanks to Extended Speed Range (ESR)

The electronic gear sensor of the SCF chain hoist continuously registers the load on the hook and from this calculates the permissible hoisting speed. When the hoist operates without load, or is lifting up to 30 % of the maximum working load, the control permits the hoisting speed to be increased to 200 % of its normal rate. At 50 % maximum working load the hoisting speed can be increased by 50 %. As many chain hoists operate only rarely at full load under normal circumstances, ESR can accelerate many hoisting cycles, this saves time and makes work more cost-effective.

Smoother-running and longer-lived

The 5-pocket chain sprocket and an active vibration-damping system, ensure that the chain runs more smoothly and reduce the load on the motor. The system counteracts other vibrations by actively modifying the speed of the drive shaft.

Another new feature is the intelligent motor control with shock damping. If the load is “ripped” with slack chain, the load is reduced at the “moment of shock” by reducing the motor speed, resulting in increased safety and a longer life for chain, hoist and crane bridge.

Thanks to its well-thought out design, on the SCF too all the chain hoist components are easily accessible for maintenance. An integrated load spectrum memory automatically calculates the remaining lifetime hours.

As with all chain hoists in STAHL CraneSystems’ SC series, the SCF chain hoist too will be supplied in future with high-end premium equipment: hard-wired controls instead of PCBs, wear-resistant chain guide and manual brake release for lowering the load safely during a power cut or system downtime are supplied as standard.

Standard ST chain hoist – your loyal companion for everyday use

The ST series from STAHL CraneSystems ranks among the most comprehensive chain hoist programmes on offer in world. In use in thousands of applications for many decades, modernised and optimised over and over again, the ST chain hoist is a true classic. Powerful, reliable and undemanding as far as maintenance and power consumption are concerned, the ST series comes in 13 S.W.L. ranges, from 125 kg to 6,300 kg. The chain hoists can be used as stationary hoists with suspension hook or eye, with rigid mounting, or with a push or electric trolley, and are especially suitable for rugged applications in industry.

Thanks to the modular design of the ST series, we can develop a suitable off-standard hoist for every tricky problem. Not rarely do these developments later find their way into our standard hoist programme:

e.g. the [extra] short headroom trolley with extremely short headroom. Or the STD dual chain hoist, which is now also available as STD Vario with adjustable spacing between the hooks.

We also build the complete ST chain hoist programme in explosion-proof design. STAHL CraneSystems was the first builder to convert its entire chain hoist program to conform to ATEX.

[Extra] short headroom trolley – maximum height of lift in low rooms

STAHL CraneSystems sets new standards with its STK extra short headroom trolley. The construction of the short headroom trolley alone saves a tremendous amount of space. The body of the chain hoist is mounted at an angle, meaning that no return sheave is required. With its headroom reduced by 60 %, the extra short headroom trolley achieves maximum hook paths particularly in extremely low-ceilinged rooms. It fully deserves its name as the dimensions of a mere 210 mm for a S.W.L. of 5,000 kg and 185 mm for a S.W.L. of 3,200 kg are extremely low and unbeatable at present.

The chain hoists used here, mounted vertically, are based on the standard ST chain hoist series from STAHL CraneSystems. The patented chain drive is unique. The hook suspended in the centre is driven evenly by two chains running synchronously. The load is lifted without swinging or vibration.

The STK chain hoist series for a S.W.L. range from 125 kg to 5,000 kg is naturally also available in an explosion-proof version for Zone 1, Zone 21 and Zone 22.

STD dual chain hoist – safe transport of long loads

The STD dual chain hoist is a special development for long objects and loads that need to be picked up at two points. Even if the load is distributed unevenly, the STD with its one hoist motor guarantees an absolute synchronous operation of both hooks. Dangerous slants are therefore ruled out by design. Thanks to its low headroom, the STD is also suitable for low halls.

The STD dual chain hoist is optionally available in an explosion-proof version for Zone 1, Zone 21 and Zone 22.

STD Vario dual chain hoist – safe transport of loads of different lengths

Using their many years of experience and intelligent technology, R&D engineers from STAHL CraneSystems worked together in close contact with customers to develop the STD dual chain hoist further. The result: the STD Vario dual chain hoist with electrically adjustable spacing between the hooks, a further gain in work safety and flexibility. The STD Vario is especially suitable for transporting long loads of different lengths (e.g. rods, timber beams, and steel girders).

Big Bag – lift bulky loads without obstructions

The new Big Bag version from STAHL CraneSystems was developed from the popular STD dual chain hoist. The outstanding special features of this version are the free choice of the distance between the chain hoist and load hook and the ability to lift bulky loads to top hook position without any obstructing edges such as trolley, chain hoist or chain box getting in the way. The Big Bag design is available for S.W.L.s up to 3,200 kg and also in an explosion-proof version.
